Duration 19:16 as track 6 of compact disc (the recording is stated to have been digital). The copyright date stated on the liner is 1991 (when the recording was made), but the publication date is 1992, and this date is shown on the disc itself.
In addition to the three works listed in the album's title (Symphony No. 4, Op. 34, "Requiem"; Lament for Beowulf, Op. 25; and Suite from the Opera "Merry Mount," Op. 31), also included are Hanson's Serenade for Flute, Harp, and Strings, Op. 35, and Pastorale for Oboe, Harp, and Strings, Op. 38. According to Smith's liner notes, the three compositions listed in the album's title were recorded on February 15 and 18, 1991, at the Seattle Opera House by the Seattle Symphony Orchestra (with the Seattle Symphony Chorale on Lament for Beowulf), and the other two were recorded on December 11, 1990, in New York City by the New York Chamber Orchestra of the 92nd Street Y. The liner notes also include the text of Lament for Beowulf (which was drawn from the translation of William Morris) and a short essay by Smith on the compositions' origins and place in Hanson's work.
MO2 1925(b) does not list specific recordings, but states that Hanson's Lament is "available on compact disc."
