    Descriptive Notes

Booklet of 24 pp., each opening designed to hang on a wall in a 12 x 22-inch poster configuration; color. A 2008 calendar published to coincide with and promote the November 2007 release of the film Beowulf (dir. Zemeckis). Each opening depicts an image from the movie's development art (rather than from the movie itself) above a 1-month calendar page. The artists are uncredited in the calendar, but most can be known from the appearance of the same pictures, with attribution, in the book The Art of Beowulf (2007). Their contributions are listed here, along with the page numbers of the coinciding images in The Art of Beowulf:

Front cover: Randy Gaul, Dermot Power, and Zac Wollons (Art of Beowulf 2-3)
Inside front cover: artist unknown (image of Hrothgar's palace, not found in The Art of Beowulf)
January: Brian Flora and Dermot Power (Art of Beowulf 60)
February: artist unknown (image of Beowulf's ship sailing, not found in The Art of Beowulf)
March: Randy Gaul (Art of Beowulf 86)
April: Dermot Power and Randy Gaul (Art of Beowulf 96)
May: Randy Gaul (Art of Beowulf 100)
June: Aaron Becker (Art of Beowulf 141)
July: Josh Viers (Art of Beowulf 54)
August: Randy Gaul (Art of Beowulf 145)
September: Brian Flora (Art of Beowulf 148)
October: Brian Flora (Art of Beowulf 150-51)
November: Mark Sullivan (Art of Beowulf 20)
December: Mark Sullivan (Art of Beowulf 156)

Additionally, on the back cover among the thumbnails of interior images, one picture appears as if it were contained in the book as a calendar page, but is not actually in the book (it is replaced by the November calendar image, which reciprocally does not appear on the back cover). This back-cover-only small image is a painting of the flying dragon by Randy Gaul (Art of Beowulf 145).
